A short story about a Mother whose funeral is taking place.

The sun was shining bright through the stained glass windows of the church as mourners slowly made their way to the front pews. Today's service was for Mary, a loving and caring mother whose life had come tragically to an end just two weeks previous.

The pastor spoke with a soft voice, his words echoing off the walls of the church. He talked about Mary's kindness and her generous spirit, noting how she would often help those in need without asking for anything in return. Her children sat in one corner of the room, wiping away tears as they listened to every word that was said about her.

As the pastor concluded his sermon, he asked everyone to take a moment of silence to remember Mary and all that she meant to them. In that time, several people recalled cherished memories they'd shared with her throughout their lives - some funny, some heartwarming, but all making them smile despite the sadness and grief that had enveloped them all day long.

When it came time for Mary's casket to be carried out of the church, all those present stood up in respect and watched as it made its way out onto the streets below - destination: its final resting place at Mary's beloved hometown cemetery. The pastor blessed Mary on her journey before asking everyone one last time to think about her life and everything that she had brought into theirs.

People hugged each other tightly as they said their goodbyes - few words were spoken but every single person there felt something profound that day: love for an extraordinary woman named Mary who will never be forgotten by anyone who knew her.
